Number 77 of the series of "Cent Légers Croquis sans prétention pour réjouir les honnêtes gens", a large-scale project over several years, commissioned by Jules Noilly, a Parisian bibliophile, whose idea was to represent the women of the time. If many themes are evoked in this series, it is especially the prostitution and the bourgeois hypocrisy towards it that are depicted.
